第十三個故事 The Thirteenth Tale

I finished it on Feb.. It's a good story and I like it. It did inspire
me by understanding that our lives are not infinite. No matter how
much one cares or fights about, it would all become ashes and dust
after some decades after we vanished from this world. It's fancy to
follow the plot to go into Miss Winter's old time story and come back
to reality with Margret. But somehow I am not quite satisfied with it
as the story comes to and end. I think there must be some more details
about Margret, e.g. her connection with the doctor, her mother.

Notes:
Page 50: what better way to get to know someone than through her
choice and treatment of books?
Page 55: Politeness. Now, there's a poor man's virtue if ever there
was one. What's so admirable about inoffensiveness, I should like to
know. After all, it's easily achieved. One needs no particular talent
to be polite. On the contrary, being nice is what's left when you've
failed at everything else. People with ambition don't give a damn what
other people think about them.
