Reading: The Catcher in the Rye

For a long time, I thought the catcher in the rye is a book about some
successful baseball player. A memoir of the player's life. I read it
March 2008 and finally know what it is all about.

The catcher in the Rye is what Holden wants to be. Being a teenager himself, he felt lost, frustrated, rebellion for everything. And he has a wish to be the catcher to catch those kids playing in the rye.

Because he is afraid those kids might get close to the cliff and fall.
He, as a teenager himself can understand how they feel lost sometimes,
can be the one to help them, stop them from falling down the cliff.

One day I went out dinner with friends, I saw a waiter-boy in the
restaurant. The boy who has trendy hair style, unique, self-express
dress code, stood there waiting for the next customer to serve.
Somehow I can see the fear and in-confident in his eyes. At that
moment, the feeling of wanting to help him strike me, I felt that he
should have someone to help him find his self-esteem and confidence,
or to help him find the ability of finding himself.

Thinking further, I am an adult now and sometimes I feel that I am
lost in the flood too. The flood of capitalism society, eager to be
successful, eager to please everyone, eager to get self-recognition,
struggle to fit in people's expectation. I, myself is lost too. The
where is my Catcher in the Rye?
